Volunteer and Learn with Madre Selva

Madre Selva offers you a unique experience to learn and experience authentic Amazon culture and traditions in a safe environment. Volunteers contribute to ongoing projects with Madre Selva, learn valuable skills, and connect with like-minded, passionate people. Your contribution supports social and environmental change in the region.
We are now seeking volunteers  who want to commit to volunteer from one month to six months in duration. Volunteers will dedicate five hours a day (8am – 1pm) in the following programmes (Sundays are free days). Intermediate level Spanish needed.

Production activities
– Cultivation and harvest of cocoa
– Sowing, cultivation, and harvesting of fruits and food plants
– Maintenance of bee hives and harvesting of honey
– Milking the cows and care of the animals
– Assistance in the production of organic fertilizers
– Gardening
– Assistance in the production of organic chocolate
– Support in the preparation of healthy meals
Education and Administration
– Assistance in workshops for indigenous womenÂ
– Assistance in workshops on medicinal plants
– Assistance in in environmental education workshopsÂ
– Assistance in organic farming workshops for young people
– English classes for children and youth
– English translation and guiding
– Maintenance of the website and social networksÂ
– Translation, Fundraising, and grant-writing
Construction and Maintenance
– Maintenance of trails and signage
– Construction of an ecological adobe house
– Construction of a wooden viewpoint for birdsÂ
– General farm maintenance activities
– Basic carpentry activities
Food and Lodging
Accommodation is included during stay and two meals per day (breakfast and lunch). Volunteers will be expected to prepare their own evening meals and follow house rules.Â
Rates
20 soles per day + 115 USD registration fee
Weekend Excursions
From Saturday afternoon and all Sunday, volunteers are free to take field trips to visit Pucallpa and neighbouring communities. Excursions will also be organized by Madre Selva.

Eligibility
Volunteers must be 18 years or olderÂ
Have intermediate level Spanish at time of arrival.Â
